INFORMATION ABOUT COOKIES

Due to the entry into force of the relevant amendment to the “Law on Information Society Services” (LSSICE) established by Royal Decree 13/2012, it is mandatory to obtain the express consent of the user on all websites that use non-essential cookies before they browse them.

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies and other similar technologies such as local shared objects, flash cookies, or pixels, are tools used by web servers to store and retrieve information about their visitors, as well as to ensure the proper functioning of the site. By using these devices, the web server is able to remember certain data about the user, such as their preferences for viewing the pages on that server, username and password, products that interest them most, etc.

COOKIES COVERED BY THE REGULATION AND EXEMPT COOKIES

According to the EU directive, the cookies that require the user’s informed consent are the analytics cookies and those for advertising and affiliation, while technical cookies and those necessary for the proper functioning of the website or the provision of services expressly requested by the user are exempt.

WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES EXIST?

About the types of cookies, there are five main groups:

  • Analytical cookies: collect information about the usage of the website.
  • Social cookies: those necessary for external social networks.
  • Affiliate cookies: allow tracking of visits coming from other websites with which the site has an affiliation agreement (affiliate companies).
  • Advertising and behavioral cookies: collect information about the user’s personal preferences and choices (retargeting).
  • Technical and functional cookies: are strictly necessary for using the website and for providing the contracted service.

When the same user revisits the site with the same browser, the cookie will consider it the same user. Only if the user changes browsers will it be considered a different user. It expires 2 years from the last update.
_gatThis cookie is associated with Google Analytics Universal. It is used to limit the request rate – limiting data collection on high-traffic sites. It expires after 10 minutes.
_utmaGoogle Analytics cookie that records the date of the first and last visit to the website by the user. It expires 2 years from the last update.
_utmbGoogle Analytics cookie that records the time of arrival to the webpage. It expires 30 minutes from the last update.
_utmcGoogle Analytics cookie used for interoperability with the urchin.js tracking code. It is deleted when the browser is closed.
_utmtGoogle Analytics cookie. This cookie is used to process the type of request made by the user. It expires at the end of the session.
_utmvGoogle Analytics cookie. This cookie is used to segment demographic data. It expires at the end of the session.
_utmzGoogle Analytics cookie that stores the traffic source or campaign to explain how the user arrived at the website. It expires 6 months from the last update.
_gidGoogle Analytics cookie. It is used to distinguish users. It expires in 24 hours.
_fbpFacebook cookie. It expires in less than one day.

REVOCATION OF CONSENT TO INSTALL COOKIES AND HOW TO DELETE COOKIES FROM THE BROWSER

Chrome

  1. Select the Tools icon.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Click on Show Advanced Options.
  4. In the “Privacy” section, click on Content Settings.
  • To delete cookies: Click on All cookies and site data…
  • Do not allow cookies to be stored.
  1. Click on Clear browsing data (clear Cache).
  2. Close and restart the browser.

Internet Explorer. Version 11

  1. Select Tools | Internet Options.
  2. Click on the General tab.
  3. In the “Browsing history” section, click on Delete browsing history on exit.
  4. Select Delete files.
  5. Select Delete cookies.
  6. Click on Delete.
  7. Click on OK.
  8. Close and restart the browser.

Firefox. Version 18

  1. Select Firefox | History | Clear Recent History.
  2. Next to “Details”, click the downward arrow.
  3. Select the following checkboxes: Cookies, Cache, Active Logins.
  4. Using the “Time range to clear” drop-down menu, select Everything.
  5. Click on Clear Now.
  6. Close and restart the browser.

You can accept or reject cookies individually in Firefox Preferences, in the History section available under Tools > Options > Privacy.
